We know it is hard to find ME/CFS and long COVID aware healthcare practitioners. You will find this when you search for services in your state or territory; there may be limited to no options available. Please join us as we work to engage more healthcare practitioners for Australians in need.
Below we have compiled some FAQ’s to help you understand more about the directory.
Please note: Not all healthcare practitioners will be experts in ME/CFS or long COVID. They may be supportive and open to learning about ME/CFS and/or long COVID. They may be an important part of your care team, even if they don’t have deep knowledge about your ME/CFS or long COVID.
For services, many will not have specific ME/CFS or long COVID training, but they will be experts at providing targeted support in their area.
All listings are either self or community recommended.
Knowledge of ME/CFS and/or long COVID is self or community member reported.
After receiving a recommendation, we make sure they are in good standing with their registration bodies.
If you are recommending someone, please check with them first that they are happy to be listed.

We only filter our database by State or Territory to keep results reliable. State-level filtering helps ensure the data stays accurate and useful. You can click on a pin on the map to see how close a clinic or practitioner is to you.
We know that there are many gaps in our map. Please remember that our database will grow over time as we educate more practitioners, hear from our community and more practitioners give their consent to register with us.
Please consider helping us by sharing services and professionals that have helped you.
We’re interested in GPs, Nurse Practitioners, Medical Specialists e.g. General Physicians, and Allied Health e.g. physiotherapists or occupational therapists.
First, please ask them if they are happy to be included in our database.
These people are ones you have found to be supportive, and who are an important part of your care team. If you have an understanding practitioner who helps you manage your ME/CFS or long COVID, we would like to hear about them!

This database is not a referral service.
The aim is to help you and your carers find help close to you. We encourage you to call the practice and talk with the staff about the most appropriate professional or service for you, then make an appointment to talk about your individual needs.
Please be aware that Emerge Australia does not maintain any direct affiliation, influence or any direct or indirect financial involvement in any of the specific doctors, health care providers or clinics listed on our ME/CFS and long COVID aware directory. Emerge Australia does not endorse, recommend, or certify any of these clinicians.
It is essential that you make an appointment before attending a practice.
Emerge Australia does not have any say in how much someone charges.
Healthcare practitioners’ fees vary from clinic to clinic and also depend on the length or what is required at an appointment. Please check with the practice prior to making an appointment about their fee structure.
Over time, we hope to expand the information available in our database to better support you in finding the right healthcare practitioner or service. We understand that, for many, being unable to attend a face-to-face appointment leaves you left out of the health system.
Please still search within your State or Territory for national services as they will be listed across all States and Territories.
We encourage you or your carer to call the practice you are interested in to discuss your individual needs. By working together, we hope to build a central directory that not only supports the community but also drives meaningful change.
We welcome all feedback and complaints.
