Emerge Australia is compiling a publicly accessible ME/CFS and long COVID Aware Health Practitioner Directory to help patients, carers, and clinicians more easily identify healthcare practitioners who are knowledgeable in the management of myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) and/or long COVID.
We will also be listing community services that patients and practitioners may find useful, even if those services do not have specific training in ME/CFS or long COVID.
The directory has been developed in direct response to consistent feedback from our community, who often face significant difficulty locating healthcare practitioners with experience or interest in these conditions. The aim is to promote better access to informed and supportive care for those living with ME/CFS and/or long COVID.

If you chose to be listed on the directory, it does not mean that you are necessarily an expert in ME/CFS or long COVID (although of course you may be).
We know not all healthcare practitioners will be experts in ME/CFS and/or long COVID or wish to become experts. An “ME/CFS-aware” practitioner is one who may have attended an Emerge Australia training event or who has spent some time updating their knowledge. They will be supportive and open to receiving information about ME/CFS and working alongside patients.

You are being invited to be listed in the Directory as a healthcare practitioner if you have demonstrated interest, experience, or clinical knowledge in managing ME/CFS and/or long COVID.
By agreeing to be included, you are helping to improve care pathways and provide vital support to individuals who often experience barriers to adequate medical attention.
We currently list practitioners who are either registered with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency), ESSA (Exercise Sports Science Australia) or AASW (Australian Association of Social Workers) or are an Accredited Practicing Dietician through Dieticians Australia.
We don’t list practitioners with restrictions on their practice.
